“The cab arrangement was simple, with the pickup point, driver details, and route shared before travel. For the Srinagar Airport + City Sightseeing, the driver explained the expected travel time and confirmed the return plan clearly. A useful part of the service was that we knew the approximate return time before leaving Srinagar. The private vehicle worked well for our group because reasonable stops could be coordinated directly with the driver. The driver and coordination team kept things simple, which is exactly what we wanted from private transport.”
7 Days Ladakh Winter Tour with Turtuk
Overview
This 7-day Ladakh winter tour begins and ends in Leh Ladakh, following a high-altitude winter circuit through Nubra Valley, Turtuk and Pangong Tso. The itinerary combines snow-covered Himalayan scenery with monasteries, cold-desert landscapes, remote border villages and some of Ladakh’s most distinctive mountain routes.
The first day is kept relatively relaxed for acclimatization after arrival in Leh. Sightseeing includes Shanti Stupa, the historic Leh Palace and a walk through Leh Market. The following day explores the local circuit around Leh with Hall of Fame, Spituk Monastery, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Magnetic Hill and Sangam Point. The Hall of Fame Light & Sound Show is also planned for the evening, subject to its operating schedule and winter conditions.
The journey then leaves Leh for Nubra Valley via Khardung La. After descending towards the valley, the route includes Diskit Monastery before continuing towards Hunder. Here, the distinctive Hunder Sand Dunes add a cold-desert contrast to Ladakh’s surrounding winter mountains, while the Bactrian camel safari remains subject to weather and local operations.
From Hunder, the itinerary includes a winter excursion towards Turtuk through the Shyok River landscapes. The day introduces the distinctive Balti setting of Turtuk before continuing towards Thang Village. Travel on this remote border-region route remains subject to snowfall, icy roads, permits and local accessibility before returning to Hunder for the night.
The next stage follows the Agham–Shyok route from Hunder towards Pangong Tso Lake. The drive passes through remote high-altitude terrain and winter mountain scenery before reaching the Pangong region for an overnight stay. Snowfall, icy road conditions and local accessibility can affect this section of the winter route, so the final road and sightseeing sequence may vary.
From Pangong, the journey returns towards Leh via Chang La Pass. The return circuit combines winter landscapes with Ladakh’s Buddhist heritage through visits to Hemis Monastery, Shey Palace and Thiksey Monastery. The day also includes Rancho School and Sindhu Ghat before reaching Leh for the final overnight stay.
The tour concludes with a transfer to Leh Airport on Day 7. As this is a dedicated Ladakh winter itinerary, travel across high-altitude passes and remote roads remains subject to snowfall, weather, permits, road conditions and local accessibility, with the route or sightseeing sequence adjusted when required.
